Training & Education -- What's Your Wish List?

Those of who follow the Opportunity Zone may recall a post from Jim Payne last spring titled "One Step Closer to World Class Training," in which he introduced me, Alison Hague, as Quixtar's new Director of Training & Education. I'm sure the title of that post sparked many different thoughts among readers. All I could think was ... "Gee, no pressure there!"

I'm happy to report, however, that in the months I've been here, I've been privileged to work with an amazing team of talented and hard-working professionals who have made great strides in providing excellent training resources for some other talented and hard-working individuals -- Quixtar Independent Business Owners.

We've researched the competition and solicited input from IBOs at all levels of this business and we've heard over and over again from you about the importance of training. We're responding with courses to help you develop business-building skills and product knowledge to support you as you grow a successful business.  All of this training is available under the umbrella of "Quixtar University". You will have the option of taking instructor-led training, online training and audio courses so you can learn anytime, anywhere, and in the way you learn best.

Some recently launched courses include brand courses specializing in Artistry, Simply Nutrilite, and Ribbon; basic business skill training courses; and Welcome to Quixtar Orientation, an easy-to-use, easy-to-understand orientation to business.

By reviewing your feedback, I have  an indication that we're on the right track with the training we're providing. For example, after its launch, QU had visits from about 300 users. This number grew to 10,000 quickly and since it’s been promoted, the number has reached more than 40,000 IBO users. Now that the Welcome to Quixtar Orientation has launched, we expect thousands more.

And the response to the online training courses has been very favorable. Here's what some IBOs like you are saying:

  • “Thank you, every single thing that I can learn through Quixtar demos and educational knowledge will only benefit me.”
  • “Who else but Quixtar would go the extra mile to see us succeed? Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”
  • “I'm so excited about this educational program. I can't wait to see what's next and get out there and use what I've learned!!!”
  • “I believe this is an excellent way to educate new and seasoned IBOs. I work for a Fortune 500 Company and this is the type of training that's utilized within the company I work for. Thank you Quixtar for giving your IBOs the most up-to-date resources to grow their business. I'm proud to be an IBO.”

While such feedback has been extremely encouraging, there's certainly much more that we can do to meet your education and training needs. I'm interested in ideas, concerns, wish lists, etc. regarding the content and delivery of training you would like to receive from Quixtar. With your guidance, I have no doubt that we can provide you with "World Class Training."

Hi Alison,

I have very much enjoyed QU and found all the modules to be very helpful.

One thing that was distracting for me was when the acting was, in a word, bad.

As an example:

IBO Cindy from the Artistry module was very hard to watch because her acting ability (or lack of) was distracting.

ALL other actresses, including the instructor of the course, were excellent.

IBO Cindy came off as arrogant (her posture of having her chin in the air most of the time), smiled too much (which created someone who couldn't be trusted and was fakey), and lacked the basic acting skills of listening and PONDERING (she appeared to be waiting for her turn to say her PLANNED lines, rather than creating the illusion that she was THINKING and then responding to what the other person was saying.)

Also, do you know when the Artistry module will be updated to include information on the Artistry Essentials line?

Thanks.

Let me start off by saying that where you guys are going is awesome. If I may offer a constructive criticism, it's that I hear lots of people talk about how they can't find this page or that on the build & manage my business section of quixtar.com. It only takes a little digging but so many people just click on 3-4 pages and leave. Could you make it more simple to access for those individuals?

Hi Alison!  You are doing a great job, and I'm thrilled with QU.  I understand that you are going to have Ribbon on there shortly?  I've done the course that's linked in the Ribbon Steps to Success....is that just going to be migrated to QU, or is the QU version going to be a new production?

I've had the pleasure of working with several Training and Development folks, and taking sales training for BellSouth and Toyota, and I've got to say that your offerings are right up there with the best.

Alison, One thing that has struck me about the QU format is the opportunity at the end of each section to summarize the content and then review and compare your comments with the "official version".  I think this is the first time I've encountered this approach, and I've found it stimulating, but I wonder whether there maybe ought to also be some multiple guess questions as well, for those more attuned to that format.  BTW, it would be fascinating to occasionally have a report of how many IBO's have not only participated in QU, but also how many have completed each module.

Hi Alison, great to see you here. There is a new book out that has tremendous implications for training, most of which have yet to be drawn and developed. Very much worth reading as you scale out Quixtar U.

THE BRAIN THAT CHANGES ITSELF, by Norman Doidge, MD  ISBN 987-0670-038305

On the face of it, very little directly about training, sales, people skills per se, but reading it with some of those things in the back of your mind suggests profound insights into possibilities of 'self-change' and learning to do what one fears or is uncomfortable trying.

Wow growing from 300 to 40,000 is pretty impressive, well until you put the percentages on it, 40,000 out of how many active IBO's I don't have the info so I can't give factual information but I am guessing that that is less that 1% lets just go for the gusto an say that it is actually 10%, really is that impressive to know that 10 percent of the field is getting training from the corp...if i was a ceo I would expect 100 percent of my people to be using the training. it seems pretty week to me.

Apple/Mac is making a crushing comeback of market share in the PC world, please make the Q.U. and all Q electronic media/web stuff available to all of us.  I'm an Emerald and nearly 50% of my team uses Macs... and iPhones, iPods, etc.

Thanks!

Firefox is every bit a standard browser as IE.  QU has GOT to work with Firefox.

It seems as if all book on sales talks about the importance of uncovering the need through questions.  QU seems to teach that you uncover the need through open-ended questions -- with examples in which the customer says within 12 seconds all the buzzwords that the IBO needs.  Please put questioning skills into QU.  Thanks.

There are two or three reasons why I stayed with Quixtar since the TEAM situation.  Quixtar's training initiatives are right up there on the top reason and QU was the clincher.  Thanks for everything and keep it coming :)

Chris, it's actually a brilliant number if you've ever taken an elementary Stats 101 course, especially for those of us committed to building Quixtar-powered businesses. And especially for QU being "open" for just over a month. Quixtar is moving on to much better things, and the rest of us positive thinkers who understand history and who are Quixtar IBOs are delighted with what Alison and her team, including all the excellent brand managers, are serving up!!!

Fantastic achievement, Alison!!! :)

Brian, I see Quixtar doing the same thing as Apple with all the new product and focus on real retailing!!! Amazing parallels, in my view!!!

I really excited about all the changes!  I am confident in your direction with the training...it's been a long time coming!

I excited about the prospect of having customers...many customers.  Retail profit is exciting and we have amazing products to share.

To help with this, what's the chance of having personalized Quixtar site (tfraley.quixtar.com)?

This would make promoting to customers soooo much easier and without the fear of them accidentally registering under someone else.  The customer shouldn't have to figure out how to be a customer with the right IBO by entering the IBO# and key.  Registering on a retail site and then going to Quixtar is a bit quirky for the customer also.

How many others are frustrated by this process?

And what about integrating the awesome product videos into a more accessable format for customers.  I think that the videos should be more visible to the customer on the site to help promote the product.  The Artistry product testimonials at the point of purchase is a great example of this.

Thanks for all the hard work up there!  You are all a blessing to us IBOs.

Tom

Quixtar.....  My sincere wish is that you start a very very affordable training company for product seminars and such.  I truly try to speak for all the new IBOs and say that we could afford more product if we didnt have this tremendous cd and conf cost. My upline is charging 8$ a cd and $100 dollars a conf and that is why he's living in a 30k sq ft house. please fix it. that is my wish

luv ya big time

I wish QU would be a "have to" starter pack and let the field know that BSMs are optional at most and that their upline will make money from the sale of there tools....My second wish is that you guys solve the fight with wilson and woodward soon cause these negative blogs are killing us and I have a friend on team and we just want all the bickering to stop so she and I can move on.....  Let them go and theyll let us go..  So..... In Closing lets fix our tools and just have QU and make sure people who really want to become IBOs only use corporate tools...
