Building Relationships

In June, I made some observations about the Prefontaine Classic sponsorship we'd just completed in Oregon. Recently our Quixtar team was again on the west coast, with another example of getting our story out to the public. We hosted over 100 of our partner companies at a two-day annual Partner Appreciation event in Buena Park, CA.  Participants included representatives from Levi's, Dell, Sara Lee, Circuit City, General Mills, Office Depot, Shop.com, FTD, Bank of America and many others.

These organizations represent one of the benefits Quixtar provides to IBOs, which is Partner Stores.  These relationships are commonly referred to as affiliate programs on the internet.  IBOs link from Quixtar.com to other e-commerce sites to purchase products and services.  In addition to some exclusive promotions, IBOs benefit by earning business volume credit which increases the compensation they earn in the business.

We've hosted this event for about the past eight years to provide our Partner Stores a 'behind the scenes' view of the business.  We have had IBOs present the business opportunity. We've had in-depth presentations and tours of our manufacturing, R&D, and distribution operations.  And, we typically include our top management to discuss business plans so that everyone's aligned as to where we're going as a company.

This year, we talked about our business transformation efforts that are designed to help IBOs make more money sooner.  We shared a presentation by our President, Doug DeVos, about the importance of innovation and collaboration in our efforts going forward.  We discussed merchandising materials and training that we're putting together to help IBOs attract new customers.  Representatives from participating companies all witnessed our Nutrilite operations first-hand.  They took a genetic test for general nutrition.  They visited our Lakeview Farms to better understand the Nutrilite Story.  They also toured our nutrition manufacturing facilities and heard presentations about the overall health vision of our company via Nutrilite's Center for Optimal Health.

This is all part of building good business relationships.  We find that people at the companies we work with often have the same initial reaction to Quixtar as many people in the general public do.  First, it's "never heard of them" or "someone approached me about some company like this once."  They often don't really know us.  But, once they spend some time with us, see how we operate, and see how IBOs build businesses, our partners get excited about Quixtar.

That's not surprising...everyone who gets to know us gets excited about what we offer. And we'll continue to tell the story.

Got a list of names I could follow up with? :-)

On a serious note, did you record the IBO showing the plan?

Just a question: Did any individuals want to become customers or IBOs from all their tours and experiences?

That'd be cool if they did!

I am pretty sure these company reps get excited just like brand new IBOs !, after seeing the best business Model/oppty bar none.  Any discussions on the impact/synergies of "increasing PV:BV on partner store Volume" ??. In other words How can IBOs make partner stores more profitable with better returns (e.g former MCI-Quixtar Partner Model for an attractive PV:BV & cash rewards)

Although Quixtar CORE LINE should be the major profitability focus for IBOs. the anchor or partner stores add SO MUCH CREDIBILITY AND STICKINESS to our business Model. A profitable Quixtar partner will also endorse the Quixtar business even more, adding so much marketing clout for the IBOs as well as Quixtar.

The Partner Stores are such an important part of our IBO presentation. So it will be great if IBOs can benefit more thru increased PV:BV from Partners. Of course it has to be viable Model for the Partner stores too..

I will appreciate your thoughts & feedback.

Thank You.

In your post you mention Q* a lot.  Was there any discussion in regards to the renaming of Q* in 24 months?  If so, how did they react?  It not, then why not?

Thanks

Hi Josh,

My name is Tom Paasche and I work with a lot of the partner companies here at Quixtar.  I was at the event in California and we definitely did announce the name change during the business meeting.  The response from our partners was overwhelmingly positive!  The most common reaction was "that makes total sense."  Many people approached us after the meeting to comment about how well-known the Amway brand is in their region of the country and they told us that they're glad to see that we'll be using it again.    Tom

Ray,

This is so neat! I love it. Relationships ARE what it's all about. I am sure no other company would even THINK about doing something like this, let alone know how to execute it well.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Tom,

That is cool hear.  One of the biggest creditability points we have when talking about our business are the partner stores (not to dimish the great standards of our core line products).  It will be the same when the switch is made as well.

Glad to know they are on-board with it.

Thanks for the time Tom

iS bUENAPARK NEAR SANTA ANA?

Editor's Note from Anna Bryce:

Norma, I'm not from California but I've found multiple sources online that indicate the two cities are only about 12 miles apart. Nutrilite in Buena Park is near Knotts Berry Farm and also near Anaheim (Disneyland). There may be more than one Santa Ana in California so hopefully this gives you a point of reference.

Norma,

Take the Santa Ana Freeway (Interstate 5) north from Santa Ana (BTW Anna, there is only one in CA) about six or seven miles and exit at Beach Blvd. north, then drive north on Beach Blvd. about two or three miles and the Nutrilite facility and the Distribution Center are on the right next to the railroad tracks.
